Christophe Astolfi starts getting interested into music at the age of thirteen. Rock and blues are his favorite music styles and self-educated, he figures out the guitar solos of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He starts studying at ‘Le Centre Musical’ in Nancy and discovers bebop. Gradually, he gets passionate about jazz and he picks up the Django Reinhardt style by playing a lot with gypsy guitarists. He moves to Brussels to study the jazz standards at the Royal Conservatory and gets even more “in love” with the music of Django Reinhardt.

In his new hometown, he starts the duo Rakou Chaka and participates for the first time at Djangofolllies. After adding violin and double bass, the band’s name Rakou Chaka is changed into Christophe Astolfi Swingtet and the new setup is to be found at Brosella Folk & Jazz 2003.

Nowadays, Christoph Astolfi is playing all over Europe and has the pleasure to share the stage with grandmasters like Tchavalo, Matcho Winterstein and Eddy Bockorny.
