The Antwerp based band, Les Blauw, got inspired by the virtuoso Belgian jazz guitar player Django Reinhardt. The musicians will introduce you into the world of one of the greatest jazz legends, born in Belgium, a man who created singlehanded a new musical language, the Manouche or Gipsy jazz, with millions of fans all over the world. Besides Django’s jazz classics, the European reply to the American swing, the band will perform own work an honour some of Django’s contemporaries, like Baro Ferret and Duke Ellington.

Bjorn Eriksson, the driving force behind this Gipsy jazz band, was also the mastermind of one of the most amazing soundtracks of the Belgian film history. In 2012, Belgium just fell in for The Broken Circle Breakdown, the success movie of Felix Van Groeningen. Eriksson got his twist on twelve country and bluegrass classics and ended up in many record closets and the heart of a lot of people. As a musician, he performed with various artists, like Zita Swoon and Admiral Freebee, even Helmut Lotti, and initiated different own projects: Maxon Blewitt, The Partchesz and Eriksson-Delcroix. Bjorn Eriksson is a man with many musical identities.

This concert is a coproduction with JazzLab Series.
